About Lainie Cassel

In 2004, I set out on a quest to better understand the chronic illness I was born with and to free myself from dependence on a medical system that had no real solutions for the symptoms I was experiencing.

At the time, I hoped that, at the very least, I would be able to relieve some of the severe skin and allergy issues I was struggling with.

But what I got was so much more.

Over the last twenty years of integrated research, personal experimentation and walking into the depths of my own shadows, I slowly began transforming in ways I didn’t know was possible. My senses grew sharper, I started thinking more poetically, seeing colors more vividly, and feeling more romantically about life.

I had more energy, better focus, and less anxiety. Time slowed down. I became more present with the world around me. Without tirelessly trying to “fix” my mindset, I began naturally experiencing more positivity and compassion.

Most surprisingly, I looked and felt more like a younger, childlike version of myself—my hair fuller, my skin brighter, my eyes wider. Creativity flowed through me. I found myself seeking out play, spontaneity, and deeper connection.

I was no longer in survival mode, dependent on a system that couldn’t help me. I had become someone I didn’t even know I was seeking to be: an artist.

It was from this experience that Cassel Wellness was born.

Lainie Cassel is a decades-long multi-sport athlete and coach who has spent many of her years hiding… afraid of her own inner-artist. Today, she is a writer, actor and comedian who helps creatives find power in the places they’ve been taught to neglect: their physical body, their shadow, their stillness — so they can move through artistic blocks and reclaim their creative freedom.

Lainie was/is a godsend in terms of the help I’ve needed on my healing journey—she’s a wealth of information, extremely well-researched (but also open minded!), and endlessly curious. In the past few months I have experienced a gradual increase in energy and a decrease in many of the symptoms/byproducts of years of stress and likely undernourishment (anxiety, other mental health symptoms, fatigue, hair loss). I genuinely feel like I am on the right path because of the information and suggestions I received throughout our sessions. I cannot say enough about Lainie! I’ve been working with her since October of 2021, and I tell everyone about her. She is extremely knowledgeable about strength training, general fitness, physiology, chronic illness and nutrition…I have chronic autoimmune conditions that make exercise difficult, but she helped me build strength and stamina in a way that worked for my body…I would highly recommend meeting Lainie and learning more about her approach. Coach Lainie has been a pleasure to work with! Bit of background: I’m a 23-year-old nonathlete (didn’t play a sport since fifth grade non-travel soccer) just trying to add some muscle mass and get stronger. Social media and the occasional program got me to some okay (some would say bad) numbers, but I was stuck in a plateau, spinning my wheels for three years. After a few months, I can confidently say that working with Coach Lainie has been the best decision of my lifting career. She helped me to break my plateau and improve my squat, deadlift, pull-ups, and bench press, even as I lost weight from failed “dirty bulks.” I actually look forward to going to the gym again! She’s also easy to talk to- I’ve never felt judged for my lack of athletic background, low lifts, or appearance. I highly recommend her as a coach to anyone like me.
